Vomiting in Infants

Vomiting is a symptom that can occur for different reasons The most common cause in children is a minor viral illness. Vomiting can however occur as a result of an accidental poisoning (especially in toddlers and young children) or a severe life threatening illness. Repeated forceful vomiting in infants is often abnormal so should be considered serious. An infant experiencing these symptoms, especially young infants, should be seen in the office for an evaluation and testing as deemed necessary. Vomiting of yellow-green material is an emergency and parents should call immediately to be seen.
