Prepubescent and Adolescent Movement

Moving or exercise has many healthy benefits at every age. "Movement" plays an important role in regulating the hormones involved with bone development, growth, brain function and the growth and function of all of our organs and muscles. It is never too early or too late to get moving! It is also important for children to see and participate with their parents having fun (not just on vacation).

By now many children are very involved in team sports. This is where we like to remind you of the old adage "variety is the spice of life." Statistics show us that most of our children are not just going to play sports on the college and/or professional level. Studies also teach us that there are many valuable lessons learned on the playground or "just" outside playing with friends. In these situations, children learn to think for themselves, organize, make and follow rules (there is no justice like peer justice), deal with consequences, work through conflict and settle differences all without adult input. Wow, what powerful life preparation, and all while having fun (maybe not all fun)!
