Small Child Movement

Moving or exercise has many healthy benefits at every age. "Movement" plays an important role in regulating the hormones involved with bone development, growth, brain function and the growth and function of all of our organs and muscles. It is never too early or too late to get moving! It is also important for children to see and participate with their parents having fun (not just on vacation).

Beginning at around 3 years of age, children are usually learning to pedal tricycles. This can be a fun, confidence building activity for all. By 5 years of age, many children are ready to transition to a bicycle with training wheels. Please do not forget helmets and pads. Remember, parents, children do as they see! Kicking, rolling, and throwing balls, hide and seek, and tag are all fun family activities that require little in the way of equipment and space. And don't forget trips to the playground!
